This was more a stew than soup then I added some beef goop with the water. I fabricated it for a family of 12 but have no left-overs...besides many people actually liked it. Information technology needs more than seasoning so I used Mrs. Nuance instead of common salt. I used frozen veggies instead of canned for lower sodium and I did not peel the potatoes (for more cobweb and vitamins). It was delicious and easy to make.

Very good! My husband who is afraid of vegetables ate this upward fast! It's very filling and has wonderful flavors! He says he'll even swallow the soup a second night. He doesn't practice leftovers, unremarkably. We will definitely make this fall soup again!

We really liked this soup. I had to alter it a bit based on what I had on paw. I used frozen vegetables not canned, and had to use diced tomatoes. Since I fabricated these changes I had to add together extra h2o and I also threw in an extra can of lycopersicon esculentum sauce. Cheers for the recipe!

I was searching for footing beef recipes and tried this 1. Our family unit loved information technology. Instead of using canned veggies, I used frozen or fresh. Much higher in nutritional value. I reduced the ground beef to 1 lb and used grass fed pastured local ground sirloin. It was plenty of beefiness. This is a keeper. Thanks for the recipe.
03/nineteen/2013
I remember my mother making this very same soup when I was a kid, and I loved information technology then. Though all of her veggies were canned from the garden, this recipe is delicious!

03/01/2013
This is our go to meal for cold weather. Have been making it for many years. Utilize less ground meat but lots of frozen / fresh vegetables, depression sodium beef broth, no common salt seasonings, fresh or stale herbs to sense of taste, lots of garlic, depression or no salt tomatoes and tomato sauce and sometimes a picayune pasta. Occasionally grate some Parmesan on top of each serving. Serve with a good crusty bread.

Proficient hearty meal.
02/05/2013
So good, and pretty depression in carbs for those of us who are diabetic. Substantial enough to be a whole meal! Has become a favorite.
12/31/2012
Overall I would say this is neat. Equally Mardi posted, this was more stew than soup. I didn't have whatsoever beef broth or extra room in my pot so I made information technology this pretty much united nations-doctored. I don't recall this had enough liquids to actually call this soup, merely information technology did hit the spot. It was a bit bland; i would recommend adding some more spices to add together season.
08/29/2013
This one is a keeper, loved it ! and want to cook it again tonight! im currently traveling and my new Brazilian family LOVED It !
01/21/2013
We really liked this at our business firm. It is super thick - not really a soup. That was slap-up for us though. I had to add more than liquid to proceed it from burning on the bottom. I volition make it again!
eleven/eighteen/2014
Very very proficient soup recipes. It took significantly longer for the carrots to get soft than the v minutes recommended. Next time I volition sautéed onions with the beef, so add the celery and carrots to that mixture forth with the crush tomatoes and tomato sauce.
08/03/2013
I left the hamburger out and added 3 cups of cabbage. Information technology was a flake thick so I thinned it out with 1 tin can of beef goop and a ii-3 cups of water and 2 beef bullion cubes. I adapted the seasonings to taste. So good.

05/07/2013
This was a hit! I went with adding liquid to make it more of a soup, like everyone else did. I likewise added Italian seasonings, cutting up some mild italian sausage and a couple cloves of garlic. I did non put peas in it though, didn't have any on manus. I served information technology with bread. I cooked it in a crockpot instead of the stove peak. I will make information technology again.
01/thirteen/2014
Greater starter recipe to add your own touches! Since I live in LA I added garlic and rotel tomatoes for a footling kick. We always love Worcestershire with any beefiness recipe. I had some chicken goop and added about 2 cups, frozen corn, and one big sweetness potato instead of carrots. Yummy and hearty!
07/21/2013
I but added some Kale, Zucchini, and Broccoli to make this a vegetable powerhouse and my family unit actually ate information technology up! I besides added 2 quarts of beef goop. I dearest that this recipe is super elementary to make from ingredients on paw. Everything can come out of the freezer or pantry for those days when you oasis't been to the store for a while. Information technology's flexible too, nevertheless is practiced when ingredients change hither and at that place.
01/05/2014
Slap-up soup! I did make some changes to business relationship for the ingredients I had on mitt. I used 2.75 lbs of hamburger and frozen black-eyed peas instead of canned. Information technology was too thick with the additional meat then I added sixteen oz. beefiness broth (made with base of operations) and ii cans of V8. I adapted the thyme and pepper for the additional ingredients. The recipe turned out to be the best beef vegetable soup I've made so far!
10/05/2013

xi/05/2013

02/04/2014
I used this recipe as my first attempt to brand vegetable beef soup and loved the way it came out. While I started out using my dutch oven, past the time I added all the vegetables (fresh or frozen-the pocketbook mix with okra in it was a adept addition), I had to move it to the crock pot. I added beefiness stock since it was very thick. Nothing is more enjoyable than warm, condolement food on chilly days and there is still some in the freezer to savor another mean solar day!
11/17/2014
Would make this again.
02/08/2014
I doctored this upwards a bit. Added 30 ounces of beef broth, fresh garlic, and two table spoons of Frank's hot sauce to give it a bit of a zing. The added beefiness broth makes it a soup instead of a stew. I would outset by following the recipe and let your taste be the driver.
12/24/2013
Not one drop was left....great soup. I made this the other day while I was doing last minute preps for Christmas. I did follow the advice of one of the other reviewers and added beef broth (as listed it was more like stew and I wanted soup) - added a 32 ounce container. That was the only change I fabricated and everyone in my business firm loved it. A definite keeper and volition exist making again real soon. Thank you for sharing this great recipe.
02/16/2015
This was a very delicious, thick, and satifying soup for a very common cold winter day. As written I think information technology's more than of a stew...very thick. I added 28 oz low sodium beef broth to get this upwards to a soup consistency and but used 1 1/2 lb footing beef. I also added Montreal seasoning, garlic and onion powders to the published ingredients. Loved all of the veggies in here. A thumbs up from hubs, too, with enough of leftovers for the freezer. Cheers for sharing your recipe with us, Sue!
12/nineteen/2013
This was very skillful. I did add a can of beef goop and so information technology was more than soupy, used frozen peas instead of canned because canned peas are too mushy added some garlic, johnny's seasoning salt and a couple splashes of worcesteshire. My husband ate 2 huge bowls and even wanted to take information technology the adjacent night for dinner.
09/24/2013

01/07/2014
Made this last night and it was perfect for a cold wintertime mean solar day. I fabricated a few changes simply based on what I had in the business firm - frozen peas instead of canned and diced tomatoes instead of whole. I as well followed the suggestion to add some additional craven broth for some boosted flavour and liquid. I probably added about 1 cup and it resulted in a delicious and hearty soup. My son ate 3 bowls!
03/12/2014
Flavor was skilful. I added most ane.v cups of water as it was very thick otherwise. Everyone like it and I froze some for another day.
01/07/2015
Soup on the get-go cold nighttime in January Is keen for my family unit. Everyone loved it. Thanks
10/20/2014
This vegetable stew is very easy and VERY practiced. I added a picayune salt, cumin and paprika to requite it zip. Not much though. It makes a big pot that my kids finished off for lunch the next twenty-four hours. I will brand this again. It takes longer than twenty minutes to set up, plan on 45.
09/03/2013
Very good recipe. Used fresh vegetables instead of canned. Also, I finely chopped 2 of our fresh chili's and threw them in to simmer with with my beef and vegetable mixture. Lastly, I added some fresh chopped kale merely almost the end to give a petty more dimension in flavour.
x/xvi/2016
Why rate something when you left out the beefiness and added the cabbage? Y'all would be rating your ain recipe. Small adjustments may be appreciated but I fabricated this just as it read and it was very proficient.
12/22/2013
Neat meal!! I switched sweet potatoes with white potatoes, and just used 1 lbs of meat, merely also added worshire sauce, it was really good
04/03/2014
Absolutely loved this. Substituted the potatoes with sweetness potatoes. Great recipe :)
eleven/17/2013
LOVED this!
11/26/2013
I didn't have tomatoes. So I used tomato juice instead of water.
12/29/2013
Used basis turkey, no peas, can of beef stock
08/24/2014
This was a delicious soup! I added 2 bouillon cubes (Knorr brand) with hot water before I added it to the soup. It was more like a stew since information technology was so thick. I cutting the recipe in one-half too. The hotter you want the soup, the more pepper yous add. I volition definitely making this over again.
02/23/2015
I added 4 cups of beef goop, no tomato sauce, no corn, frozen peas. OUTSTANDING!
04/fifteen/2014
The recipe is excellent! I just added some beef broth and more than herbs to add more taste.
04/sixteen/2014
Very skillful basic recipe. easy to switch up to make information technology your ain. also a good mode to apply upwardly leftover veggies and hamburgers. ( especially hambugers cooked on the grill) to make it easier i will just utilize the frozen bag of mixed vegetables and normally instead of apparently tomatoes i will utilise ro-tel. besides dandy to employ macaroni noodles to bulk it up a fleck and make information technology a piffling heartier.
08/08/2014
When I make this I do use frozen okra, lima, kidney and butter beans and what makes this standard recipe and so great is using the veggies y'all and your family like
08/07/2014
Makes a Large portion. I added a little more spice to it and it was succulent! Great recipe. Would recommend you endeavor information technology.
12/11/2013
Great recipe! i added ii cups of water for more than broth and 2 yellow chilis. That spice was perfect!
01/20/2015
This is a savory hearty soup. My husband said this is his favorite soup I take ever fabricated. Yummy!
02/21/2015
This was smashing merely must acknowledge, I changed it up quite a flake because I was emptying out the freezer & pantry due to leaving our holiday dwelling house after several months. I used basis chicken and all of the veggies came from the freezer. I also used a can of diced tomatoes and liked the bits of tomato for color. Many added goop, I had a 48oz box of low sodium beefiness goop that needed to exist used, I added the entire thing and loved the result. Hubs commented he really liked it and we take several containers in the freezer for the last few weeks of vacation!
02/24/2015
So bully!
03/26/2017
I've been making this stew for the last xl+ years. It's a great way to salve on those high beef prices for stew meat and you get meat in pretty much every seize with teeth using ground beef instead. I oasis't found any one family unit or friend who hasn't loved stew even so it's made. It's and so versatile that you tin can literally dump in every thing but the kitchen sink and it volition e'er turn out yummy! You can make it with tomato plant juice if y'all don't have tomato plant sauce or you can omit both and just add canned diced tomatoes. You can add beef goop (liquid, cubed or granular) or none at all. You can add any veggies your family likes including ones you wouldn't commonly utilise in a stew and it will withal come out good! Utilize any seasoning your family likes all-time merely exercise add together some garlic to your browning beef (information technology actually adds to the beefiness season) too as some diced onions equally your browning your meat. You can use all canned veggies, abode canned veggies or frozen veggies or a combination at that place of. I tin't imagine anyone screwing upwards a stew peculiarly if you but utilize what your family likes. I don't normally utilize bay leaf in my stew merely I imagine it would just add another layer of flavour. For those new cooks out there don't be afraid to dump whatsoever veggies your family unit normally likes in information technology. I promise it will come up out amazing. Sometimes I fifty-fifty put in some cabbage in our stew if I take information technology simply not e'er. We also like a few diced bell peppers in ours. This stuff is just as skilful warmed up a day or even three
02/11/2015
This soup was fantastic, my whole family loved it, though my middle daughter said information technology was not "soup" because information technology was so thick. Making information technology again next calendar week. Only change was I used beef goop instead of water and probably added a whole cup and I too threw in some Spicy V8 that I had left over. Seriously, and so proficient!!
11/26/2013
This was pretty proficient. I used ground deer meat instead of beef. If I make it once again, I volition simply use 1 lb of meat. It is definitely more of a stew than a soup like other have said in their comments.
09/15/2015
Made this as the recipe says, with the exception of adding beef goop since I similar my soups a little more, well, soupy.. It was very good but seems to need more seasonings. But still pretty darn good!
11/06/2013
I actually enjoyed this. It was a great basic recipe. I altered it some to brand information technology my own, of course. I rarely don't. ( I used 2 cans of rotel and fresh cherry-red tomatoes in identify of the cans of lycopersicon esculentum the recipe asked for, and a few more seasonings) I also served information technology over rice. It was fantastic! Thank you!
11/05/2014
This turned out then delicious! The only thing that I changed was that I added about a TBS of minced garlic and 1 Qt. of beef broth. I didn't take any peas and I used 2 spice mixtures that I love and use frequently- (Bragg Organic Sprinkle 24 herbs and spices seasoning and Kroger Zesty Seasoning Alloy) about 2 tsp of each. Other than that, I followed the recipe that was given. We will definitely make this one again!
ten/thirteen/2016
favor was just a little flat, wearisome cooked ground circular, cut information technology in pocket-sized parts and added to the hamburger, which richened the favor. It'south very good!!
01/05/2015
And so far information technology smells great (and tastes bang-up equally well)!! I added 32oz of beef stock and drained the beans and peas (if I feel it'southward too runny, I figure I tin can add Arrowroot powder to thicken). I besides added about 1TBS of Oregano, Parsley, and Basil along with a lot of actress Thyme with liberal salt and pepper. I call up the seasonings are a picayune light, plus I'one thousand going through an Italian phase :) I as well added about 4 garlic cloves to the beef while information technology was browning, omitted the corn, and used sugariness potatoes instead of reg potatoes. Nosotros shall meet! I'll report back!
02/fourteen/2015
Very good! I added to cups of beef broth. Also two-4 cups water and lots of garlic.
11/05/2014
Amazing flavor the next day, we added bounding main salt pepper and garlic powder to the mix
02/12/2015
This soup was so simple to make and turned out delicious!! Reading the reviews was actually helpful. Using ground chuck, I didn't need to drain the meat because there was inappreciably any grease. I omitted the h2o and used 2 containers of beef broth (about 32 oz. each). Also, I don't use the thyme or bay leaf because I didn't have any on hand, and information technology all the same turned out smashing. Sometimes I'll add a small can of tomato paste if I'yard going for a stronger tomato flavor. This soup has become a staple in our abode!! Cheers!!
06/08/2015
I used ground turkey instead of ground beef and I added a cup of Quinoa in the last 15 minutes of cooking. I ended upwards adding several (I lost rail) cups of water for information technology to be a soup. Peradventure I will add vegetable stock next time.
09/23/2013
I really liked it! I as well had to add together beef broth because information technology was too much similar a stew. It was delicious though!
12/15/2014
Since this recipe received not bad reviews, I decided to double the recipe on the beginning try. I'm glad I did. Outset, I agree with what everyone said on adding more than liquid. I added 2 cups of no sodium beef broth, and it wasn't enough (I didn't have any more room). My soup notwithstanding came out like a stew. Didn't bother me because it was so tasty. I did some small changes to the original recipe: I sauteed the onions with the beef and substituted the peas & green beans with frozen edamame & frozen cauliflower (hubby doesn't like peas or green beans). Will definitely exist making this again.
03/15/2015
Hearty and easy to make. I think I would cut down the number of potatoes though. I used three and that was a chip besides many. Also, be sure to add together a little h2o each time you reheat and cutting the potatoes upward small.
11/23/2014
This is a really tasty soup! The only thing I added was some salt (to taste) and rather than canned peas/corn/beans I used frozen.
12/29/2014
I substituted and omitted some ingredients. Namely: 2 cans of Delmonte mixed vegetables instead of listed veggies 1 tin of Campbell'south love apple soup instead of lycopersicon esculentum sauce Omitted the bay leaf Scrumptious
02/03/2018
I agree with many of the other opinions that this was more stew than soup and that it was a little banal. Maybe some thyme or bay leaves adjacent fourth dimension. With salt and pepper it was pretty good.
12/21/2016
This was SO easy and So adept. I added garlic to the ground beef and onions. I left out the celery and used canned carrots that I put in with the rest of the veggies. I used beefiness broth instead of water. I as well added some Italian seasoning. Served it with cornbread and nosotros thoroughly enjoyed it.
11/23/2019
easy and tasty. Tin can easily employ any vegetable.
01/21/2019
Followed comments to make it Nifty! Will make again. 1lb footing beef. Added i can garbanzo beans, iv garlic cloves, 1 tbls oregano . No peas or pea water, then fabricated information technology upwardly with 4 cups water with bouillon (until covered with liquid). Cooked on High for two.5 hours in slow cooker.
09/21/2020
Great base! I merely had a 28oz can of crushed tomatoes and didn't desire to waste any, so I tossed it all in with the rest of the ingredients (in addition to 1.five cartons of beef broth, double the recommended seasonings, & plenty of common salt) and information technology was neat! I'd recommend adding the beef broth if you want more of a soup than a stew! Information technology all fit well inside an 8 quart Dutch oven. Will definitely make again this winter.
12/11/2016
Made a few modifications, added bulky mushroom soup and a second tin of tomato sauce. It turned out good. My 14 yr old raved nigh information technology.
01/25/2017
i fabricated it with italian crushed tomatoes, added some salt and used frozen peas instead of canned.
03/22/2020
I added a can of tomato soup and some beef bouillon to this and information technology made it even better!!!!
01/26/2016
Fantabulous! Didn't add peas, corn or thyme (my husband claims thyme tastes like pines needles). It was easy and cooked while working on homework. Will make once again and again, I was told virtually v times..."Great Dinner Idea"! Savour!
02/20/2019
I'one thousand assuming the absence of salt in the recipe was an oversight. You will certainly demand some unless you bask really bland food. I suggest beef bouillon cubes dissolved in boiling water. Recipe was far too thick. 1/4 cup of h2o won't come close to making it like soup. I had to add together almost 4 cups of water as well as salt and finally some hot sauce to give it any season. Information technology was still pretty thick.
09/15/2016
Really good base to a vegetable soup. I stuck to the recipe but used frozen veggies and added 3 cups of beef broth. Also used oregano and a niggling cayenne pepper for a little bite! So so good! Added a dollop of cottage cheese in the middle before serving amazing soup!
08/fourteen/2018
I didn't accept any peas on mitt, so I used green beans instead. I cut my potatoes a little larger than 1 inch, so it took longer to cook. But information technology was a huge hit with my married man and I, and he's not really a big soup eater. My kids are picky and they didn't like information technology, merely they really only desire junk :( I volition definitely be making this over again in the future.
08/xi/2016
Succulent with changes. Like other reviewers said, information technology was a stew, non a soup, so I added 2 c. of beef broth. I used no salt tomatoes so added i tsp. garlic salt and a few shakes of regular common salt. I also added one/2 tsp. basil.
06/09/2019
I fabricated the recipe exactly as written. It was delicious and my family loved it. Will definitely make it once again.
10/25/2015
The original recipe was besides thick for my taste. Just the overall sense of taste was fantastic. I added a carton of craven broth, because I didn't take beefiness broth on manus, and about a cup of ketchup. I like the bit of sweet brought in my the ketchup. All that actress liquid I added got mopped up past grilled cheese sandwiches. Which I remember are the perfect compliment to this common cold weather soup.
11/02/2016
I fabricated this simply how information technology says but instead of basis beef added albondigas (meatballs) and cooked in the crockpot. Served with buttered tortillas. Yummy! Will definitely keep this one!
10/23/2017
Made it for the 1st fourth dimension, information technology was okay. I had to adjust the recipe a bit because I didn't have all the ingredients. I would like to make again before giving a more complete review just it's a adequately basic vegetable soup recipe... hard to go wrong.
12/31/2016
Very like shooting fish in a barrel recipe! However, I used frozen veggies & added beef goop to it.
07/16/2020
I've fabricated this soup/stew twice now and both times it'southward come out fabulous! Husband loves it and it'southward a corking recipe when you have even simply a one/2 lb of leftover ground beefiness. Giving it iv stars only because I call up it's a few spices/seasonings curt of being perfection but I haven't quite figured out what those are. Strongly advise seasoning the heck out of your beefiness while browning with pepper, garlic pulverisation, onion pulverization and some salt. Definitely added beefiness goop and used frozen mixed veggies. We aren't big on chunks of tomatoes in soup so I used tomato sauce and a can of diced tomatoes but only the liquid. Finish off with grated Parmesan! Volition definitely brand over and over!
03/27/2020
The just thing I did different was I added a can of stewed tomatoes. The soup was excellant! I received a lot of compliments. Everyone asked me to brand it once more. I will gladly make it over and over once again! It really IS easy. But, that's OUR hugger-mugger.
12/23/2019
Had some neighbors over for a piddling Christmas gather and information technology was a big hit. Since I had read some of the previous comments and I like a lot of goop, I added both beefiness and chicken broth. I added extra thyme, two bay leaves and some garlic pulverization. Turned out not bad.
12/11/2018
This was so easy! I don't use can veggies then I used frozen.
11/04/2015
added 24oz tomatoe sauce plus 6cups beef broth family loved it
12/12/2017
This was a skillful basic soup. I used frozen vegetables for the peas, green beans, and corn b/c that is what I adopt. Also, instead of just the thyme and bay leaves I used an Italian seasoning alloy. Beef broth worked good as the base instead of just water and you definitely demand more than listed if you lot desire information technology to truly be a soup verses stew texture. My married man liked it and my kids didn't complain nigh it so I see that every bit a win!
12/17/2016
Very tasty soup! I accidentally poured the entire can of corn into the pot without draining and rinsing it first. I think that made the soup sense of taste a little sweet. I tried to counteract the sugariness with more than beefiness broth and a little common salt. I skipped the can of light-green beans because I ran out of room in my dutch oven. Overall very practiced soup! I'll definitely make this again.
09/13/2016
I am agoraphobic and don't leave my house unless my husband takes me. I was really running low on groceries and husband was working tardily. I had all of the ingredients for this except carrots. I had shredded ones for my salad. I used frozen mixed vegetables that had carrots and a few minutes earlier serving threw in some of the shredded carrots. I had everything else on manus. This was actually good! The best was my hubby had a meal set when he got dwelling. Cheers for sharing.
12/26/2016
I was looking for a soup recipe to utilise some leftover prime rib in and this was the perfect 1! I modified the recipe a piddling using the diced meat in identify of the ground beefiness and used beef stock instead of h2o for boosted season. I prefer frozen vegetables to canned then used frozen corn and peas! Served with cheesy bread!
09/twenty/2015
Delicious and easy :) I added a petty marjoram.
02/03/2018
Quick, like shooting fish in a barrel, and filling! I added beef goop instead of water :)
05/31/2020
It turned out bland so I added beefiness broth and it tastes fantastic!!
